StorageXray

FAQ

Questions, answered

Everything you need to know about labels, scanning, and plans.

How does Storage Xray work?

Snap a few photos of the inside of a tote, add a short description, and print the QR label we generate. Stick the label on the outside of the tote. Next time you need something, scan the label with your phone camera and you’ll see the photos and list of contents right away.

What if a QR label gets scratched or damaged?

Every label also prints a short text code, like XR-7KQ4-HD. Go to the Find page, type the code, and you’ll land on the same tote page.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Storage Xray runs in your phone’s browser. Your phone’s built-in camera reads the QR code and opens the tote page.

What kind of labels can I print on?

Any printer works. Label sheets are laid out for standard US Letter and A4 paper. Print on adhesive sticker paper and stick the label on, or print on plain paper, cut the label out and tape it on. Clear packing tape over the top keeps it waterproof.

Can someone else see my totes?

Totes are private by default: scanning a label asks for your login. On the Home and Pro plans you can switch any tote to public scanning, so family members can scan its label and see inside without an account.

Is it only for storage totes?

Not at all. Labels work on anything you store or move: totes, moving boxes, bins, drawers, suitcases, storage-unit shelves and more. Let us help keep you organized.

Can AI describe what’s in my tote?

Yes. After adding photos, tap “Describe with AI” and Storage Xray suggests a name, a short label description and a list of the items it can see. You can edit everything before saving.

Can I print labels without the title or description?

Yes. Labels are square with the QR code in the middle. In the label studio you can turn the title and description on or off for a cleaner look. The backup text code is always printed.

Can I change plans or cancel?

Yes. Every account starts with a 5-day free trial. Subscribe from your Account page with any card through Stripe; if you subscribe during the trial, the first charge happens when the trial ends. You can switch plans (prorated) or cancel any time from “Manage billing”, and your labels keep their codes, so you never have to reprint them.
